Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles to Honor Roland Emmerich and Bert Fields

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles will honor Anonymous director Roland Emmerich and entertainment attorney Bert Fields with its Crystal Quill Award for their contributions to the Shakespeare authorship debate on October 4 at Sony Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Anonymous, which is set to debut in theaters on October 28, posits the theory that Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, was actually the author of many of the plays credited to William Shakespeare. The film stars Rhys Ifans, Rafe Spall, David Thewlis, and Vanessa Redgrave.

Throughout its 25-year history, SCLA has created accessible theater that reflects the people, history and landscape of Los Angeles and follows a casting policy that reflects the rich diversity of Los Angeles. In addition to its stage productions, The Shakespeare Center offers The Will Power series that provide youth enrichment and engagement programs.
