Sharon McNight, Jake Broder to Perform at the Inner Circle at the Magic Castle

Sharon McNight will offer two performances of her show Red Hot Mama to the Inner Circle at the Magic Castle, October 10 and 11 at 8pm.

In the show, McNight brings the legendary Sophie Tucker to life in both story and song. Included in the piece are such Tucker hits as “You Gotta See Your Mama Everynight,” “There’ll Be Some Changes Made,” “Darktown Strutter’s Ball,” “I Don’t Want to Get Thin,” “Hula Lou,” “The One I Love Belongs To Somebody Else” and “The Man I Love.”

Also on the venue’s schedule is Jake Broder in His Royal Hipness Lord Buckley, to be offered on November 2-3.

In this piece, Broder incarnates the nineteen-fifties cult lounge performer Lord Buckley on a headlong ride through the late beat philosopher’s oeuvre. A hot-jazz trio backs Broder as he bops through resurrected spoken-word riffs on the Swinging Pied Piper, Jesus of Nazareth (“The Nazz”), and the Gettysburg Address.
