Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Margo Martindale will play the character of Mattie Fae Aiken in the film adaptation of August: Osage County, according to Deadline.com. John Wells will direct the film.

Tracy Letts‘ Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play centers a family whose lives have splintered until a crisis brings them back together in the clan’s home and its dysfunctional matriarch, Violet Weston.

As previously reported, Meryl Streep will star as Violet with Julia Roberts as Violet’s oldest daughter, Barbara Fordham, and Abigail Breslin as Barbara’s teenaged daughter, Jean. The cast also includes Chris Cooper as Charles Aiken, Juliette Lewis as Ivy Weston, and Andrea Riseborough as Karen Weston.

Martindale won her Emmy for her performance as Mags Bennett in FX’s Justified, and received her Tony nomination for playing Big Mama in the 2004 Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
