The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors has revised the rules concerning the original song category for the Oscars, according to a report in Variety.

The new rules guarantee that there will be a full slate of five nominees, which has not been the case in past years due to stricter guidelines designed, according to the trade publication, “to ensure the integrity of the song nominations.”

As previously reported, the 85th Academy Awards will be produced by stage, TV and film producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. The ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Networkon Sunday, February 24, 2013.
