Two-time Academy Award-winner Jane Fonda will once again star in writer/director Moisés Kaufman’s 33 Variations when it is presented by the Center Theatre Group at the Ahmanson Theatre, January 30-March 6, with an opening on February 9.

Fonda starred in the Broadway production of the play in 2009, receiving a Tony nomination for her work. In the play, the audience is transported back and forth from present-day New York to 19th century Austria, when a musicologist (Fonda) is determined to solve the musical mystery of why Beethoven spent his last years feverishly writing 33 variations of what appeared to be a mediocre waltz created by his publisher.

Fonda’s other Broadway credits include Strange Interlude and Invitation to March. She won Academy Awards for her performances in Coming Home and Klute and received Oscar nominations for The Morning After, On Golden Pond, Julia and They Shoot Horses Don’t They?. As previously reported, upcoming film roles include Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding opposite Catherine Keener and Chace Crawford, and the French film comedy, Et Si on Vivait Tous Ensemble.
