Morlan Higgins, William Dennis Hurley to Star in Fountain’s Shining City

Morlan Higgins and William Dennis Hurley will lead the cast of Conor McPherson’s Tony-nominated play Shining City, which will make its Los Angeles premiere at the Fountain Theatre, September 12-December 19, with an opening on September 19. Stephen Sachs will direct.

In the play, a middle-aged businessman living in Dublin (Higgins) has seen the ghost of his recently deceased wife. Terrified and sleepless, he reaches out to a therapist (Hurley), a former priest who is wrestling with his own demons.

The cast will also include Kerrie Blaisdell and Benjamin Keepers. The creative team will include Shaun L. Motley (set), Ken Booth (lighting), A. Jeffrey Schoenberg (costumes), and Peter Bayne (sound).

Higgins is the recipient of more than two dozen awards including two Ovation Awards, four LADCC Awards, four LA Weekly awards, four Garland Awards and five Drama-Logue Awards. He has appeared numerous times at The Fountain, most recently in The Accomplices. Hurley received Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and LA Weekly Awards for Among the Thugs; LA Drama Critics Circle and Backstage West Garland Awards for Exits and Entrances; and an Ovation Award nomination for The Boys Next Door.
