Additional details have been announced for Culture Clash’s production of Aristophanes’ Peace at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles. This classic anti-war comedy, directed by Bill Rauch, will run September 10-October 3.

Aristophanes wrote Peace in 421 B.C. The satire focuses on the ogre War who has imprisoned the goddess Peace and holds sway over all of Greece; meanwhile, on Earth below, three rustic patriots hatch a plot to saddle their faithful dung beetle and fly to the heavens, to engineer the goddess’ rescue and restore Peace to the land.

As previously announced, Theater artists John Fleck and Amy Hill will join Culture Clash in the play. The production will also feature music by an onstage trio of singing musicians led by Suzanne Garcia. The creative team will include Christopher Acebo (set design), Shigeru Yaji (costumes), Geoff Korf (lighting), and Lynn Jeffries (puppets).
