Danny Gurwin and Khori Dastoor will perform songs from Broadway musicals like Gypsy, Wicked, Hairspray and Mamma Mia! during the California Philharmonic’s season finale concerts later this month. The company will offer two performances of the program of show tunes, Broadway’s Best. On August 22 the Philharmonic will perform at The Arboretum in Arcadia, and on August 23, the concert will be offered at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The orchestra, under conductor Dr. Victor Vener, will not only perform excerpts from contemporary musicals, it will also offer selections from two operettas not normally associated with Broadway – Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár´s The Merry Widow.

Gurwin has appeared on Broadway in such musicals as Little Women, The Full Monty and Urinetown. Dastoor has performed in operas around the world, notably the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera San Jose.
