Carla Gugino Cast in Sucker Punch Film

Broadway veteran Carla Gugino has been cast in the Warner Bros. action fantasy film Sucker Punch, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cast will also feature Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, and Abbie Cornish. Zack Snyder — who helmed the film Watchmen in which Gugino played the Silk Spectre — will direct.

The film is set in the 1950s, and follows a girl whose evil father plans to have her lobotomized, so she and her friends plan an escape to an alternate reality.

Gugino starred last season in the Broadway production of Desire Under the Elms, and her other theater credits include the Broadway revival of After the Fall and the Off-Broadway production of Suddenly Last Summer.
