The Opera Gang Announces 2008 Season

The Opera Gang has announced the schedule for its 2008 season, which will run August 22-September 14.

The season will open with Lucia Di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti, August 22, at Gerald Daniel Recital Hall. All other performance will be presented at Bayshore Congregational Church. Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto will play August 23, 29, 31, and September 5 alongside Georges Bizet’s Carmen, August 24, 30, and September 7. Finally, The Ballad of Baby Doe, Douglas Moore’s 20th Century American opera, will play a matinee performance September 7.

Megan O’Toole will direct the season and the principal performers will include Khaled Bayaa, Michelle Caravia, Allison Coop, Michael Gallup, Roberto Perlas Gomez, Alex Schenk, Josh Shaw, Ester Song, and Terry Welborn. Galina Barskaya will provide musical direction and piano accompaniment, and James Carhart will handle the production design, video projections, and costumes.
