Fleck, Hill, Tsing Loh, et al. Set for LATC’s Face of The World Festival 08

The New Los Angeles Theatre Center has announced the line up for its Face of The World Festival 08, September 12-December 14, which will open the theater’s 2008-2009 season. The festival will feature theatre, dance, music, and solo performances by local and international artists.

In September, Leslie Lewis Sword will perform her solo piece Miracle in Rwanda, September 11-28; Ofelia Medina will present her solo, Intimamente — Rosario de Chiapas, based on the poems of Rosario Castellanos, September 12-14; John Fleck & Sandra Tsing Loh will present SIDE EFFECTS MAY INCLUDE…, September 19-21; Las Leandras’ comic light opera, A Bilingual Foundation of the Arts Production, will open, September 26-28; and Amy Hill’s solo piece, Ten Years Later – Where the H*ll Have You Been?, will play, September 26-28.

October productions will include Canek — A Life-Size Puppet Show (October 10-12), Alfonsina Riosantos’ Filoctetes (October 17-19), and Joyce Guy’s War Stories (October 31-November 23). November productions will include Floricanto’s Dia de los Muertos Celebration (November 1), Ofelia Medina’s Cada Quien Su Frida (November 7-16), Dan Kwong’s It’s Great 2B American (November 14-16), El Maiz by Jesusa Rodriguez (November 23), and Yussef El Guindi’s Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes (November 21-December 14).

December will see the New Works Festival 2008, which will include Lot Sand Found, The House of Dinah or The Black Queens, and English Only: A Fight for Words in America (December 5-7). Full production dates are yet to be announced. The festival will close with La Virgen de Guadalupe, Dios Inantzin, December 4-14, a Los Angeles tradition.
