The Ojai Playwrights Conference will celebrate its 15th Anniversary, August 8-12.

A highlight of the conference will include the world premiere of Terrence McNally‘s And Away We Go, which jumps through time from backstage in ancient Athens to a rehearsal at Shakespeare’s Globe, from Moliere’s Versailles Royal Theater to the first reading of a new play by Chekhov — with an unlikely stop in Coral Gables and the American premiere of Waiting For Godot along the way.

The conference will also feature new works by Luis Alfaro, Liza Powell O’Brien, Robert Askins, Jennifer Haley, and Matt Hoverman.

In addition, there will be two special performance events: Urban Theatre In America will feature playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis
, Father Greg Boyle and gang members from Homeboy Industries who will perform powerful original pieces about the streets of Los Angeles; while Milestones will feature an evening of women writers, singers and actors, including Amanda McBroom and Charlayne Woodard, creating works around the “milestones” in their lives.
