Sanaa Lathan to Star in By the Way, Meet Vera Stark at Geffen Playhouse

The Geffen Playhouse has announced casting for the West Coast premiere of By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, running September 18-October 28 in the Gil Cates Theater. Jo Bonney will direct.
In By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, former maid Vera Stark lands a groundbreaking role in a new Southern epic and turns Hollywood on its head as she paves the way for future generations of black actresses.
Stage and screen star Sanaa Lathan, who originated the role of Vera Stark, will return to the part. She will joined by original cast member Kimberly Hébert Gregory, reprising her roles as Lottie. The cast will also feature Merle Dandridge (Anna Mae), Amanda Detmer (Gloria Mitchell), Kevin Carroll (Leroy Barksdale / Herb Forrester), Spencer Garrett (Fredrick Slasvick / Brad Donovan), and Mather Zickel (Maximillian Von Oster / Peter Rhys-Davies).
