Lee Pace to Join Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, et al. in Lincoln Movie

Lee Pace has joined the cast of the forthcoming movie Lincoln, according to a report on Deadline.com. As previously reported, Steven Spielberg will direct the film, which will have a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner.

The movie will focus on Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet as they struggle with the abolishment of slavery and seek to end the Civil War. Pace will play Fernando Wood, who was mayor of New York City and a prominent early supporter of the Confederate cause.

As previously announced, the film will also star Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, Sally Field as his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, and David Strathairn as Lincoln’s Secretary of State, William Seward.

Pace was recently seen on Broadway in The Normal Heart. His other stage credits include The Credeaux Canvas, The Fourth Sister, and Small Tragedy. Among his film and television credits are The Fall, The Good Shepherd, The Resident, and Pushing Daisies as well as the forthcoming The Hobbit and Breaking Dawn.
