Stage veterans Willem Dafoe and Lynn Collins will co-star with television favorite Taylor Kitsch in Walt Disney Pictures’ John Carter of Mars, according to Variety. Andrew Stanton is set to direct the film.

The plot involves a Civil War veteran who is mysteriously teleported to Mars and gets involved in the dying planet’s own wars.

Dafoe is known for his stage work with The Wooster Group. Collins starred as Rosalind in the 2005 Shakespeare in the Park production of As You Like It, and additional theater credits include Ophelia opposite Liev Schreiber at the Public, and Juliet in Peter Hall’s staging of Romeo and Juliet. She played Portia in the 2004 film version of The Merchant of Venice. Kitsch is best known for his role of Tim Riggins on NBC’s Friday Night Lights.
