Marsha Norman’s Getting Out to Play L.A.

From The Ground Up Theatre Company will present Marsha Norman’s Getting Out, at the Lyric Hyperion Theatre & Café in Los Angeles, August 7-September 20. Andrew Hamrick will direct.

The play centers on a woman, recently released from prison, who returns to a rundown apartment in Louisville, intent on starting her life over. The cast will include Jennifer Cetrone (Arlene), Tracey Lane (Arlie), Ted Blegen (Guard Evans), Andrew Hamrick (Bennie), Daniel Valery (Guard Caldwell), Linda Nile (Doctor), Eileen Galindo (Mother), and Leah Verrill (School Principal).

Norman is best known as the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, ‘night, Mother. She won a Tony Award for her book to the musical The Secret Garden, and was Tony nominated for her book to the musical adaptation of The Color Purple.
