Julia Migenes to Star in Franz Schubert His Letters & Music at Odyssey Theatre

Julia Migenes will star in a new show that examines of the life, career and output of composer Franz Schubert at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles. The show, Franz Schubert His Letters & Music, will also feature pianist Victoria Kirsch and actor Jeff Marlow, and is scheduled to run July 31 – August 23.

The piece approaches its subject through both his lieder and his letters and looks to take a new approach to a man largely misunderstood by his contemporaries. The Austrian composer, noted for his original melodic and harmonic writing, wrote about 600 lieder and is now considered one of the greatest composers in the Western musical tradition.

Migenes’ career includes work in musical theater and the international opera world. She originated the role of Hodel in the original production of Fiddler on the Roof with Zero Mostel. Other Broadway credits include West Side Story and Carnival!
