Beau Bridges, Mike Farrell, Camryn Manheim, Sandra Oh, Tim Robbins, and Martin Sheen will participate in a benefit reading of Daniel Berrigan’s The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, presented by The Actors’ Gang at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, at 8pm on Saturday, August 18. The reading will be directed by Gordon Davidson. All proceeds benefit the Office of the Americas and The Actors’ Gang.

Berrigan’s free-verse dramatization is based on actual records from the trial in which he and other Catholic priests were convicted for the 1968 burning of selective service files as a protest against U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Following the groups’ arrest, Berrigan was sentenced to three years in prison. He went into hiding but was again apprehended, this time by the FBI. He was released from prison in 1972 and currently serves as the Poet in Residence at Fordham University.

Tickets for the reading are $250 and include a post-show reception with the cast. They can be ordered by calling 310-838-4264 or at TheActorsGang.com.
