Viola Davis to Join Cast of Showtime’s United States of Tara

Tony Award winner Viola Davis will appear in Showtime’s United States of Tara, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which reports that she will play an “unconventional artist” named Lynda in seven of the show’s 12 episodes in the upcoming season.

The series stars Tony nominee Toni Collette as a mother struggling with disassociative identity disorder. The series also features John Corbett, Rosemarie DeWitt, Brie Larson, Keir Gilchrist, and Nathan Corddry.

Davis won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her performance in King Hedley II, received a Drama Desk Award for Intimate Apparel, and was Tony-nominated for Seven Guitars. She also received an Academy Award nomination for her role in the film version of Doubt.
