John Aniston, Jason Graae, Jesse Lee Sofer, Victoria Tennant, Constance Towers Set for TV’s Awakening of Spring

The LGBT television network, here!, will air the network debut of The Awakening of Spring, based on of the 1891 Frank Wedekind play, on July 31.

Written and directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman, this adaptation centers on Michael, who is slightly more educated in the mysteries of human reproduction than his sheltered friends. Passing on his knowledge has tragic consequences for Michael in the oppressive society of his day. Wedekind’s play was also the source material for the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Spring Awakening.

The cast will star Jesse Lee Sofer as Michael, and feature Victoria Tennant, John Aniston, Constance Towers, and Jason Graae.
