McKellen, Reeves, Sondheim, Voigt, et al. Set for UCLA Live Season

The line-up for the annual UCLA Live season, which will take place at the school’s Royce and Freud Halls from September 18-June 8 has been announced.

On the theatrical front, the highlight is the Royal Shakespeare Company’s double-bill of King Lear and The Seagull, starring Sir Ian McKellen (October 19-27). Other noteworthy offerings include the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Black Watch (September 18-October 14), Erik Sanko’s The Fortune Teller (October 18-28), and a one-night conversation between composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim and former New York Times critic Frank Rich (March 13).

The extensive array of musical selections includes concerts by Ornette Coleman (September 26), The Tiger Lillies (November 3), Yo-Yo Ma (November 17), Youssou N’Dour (December 1), Deborah Voigt (January 16), Angelique Kidjo (March 12), Laurie Anderson (April 10), Arlo Guthrie (April 17), Jessye Norman (May 8), and Dianne Reeves (May 22).
