Stage and screen star Stanley Tucci will play the title role in the upcoming film, Ed Lucas, according to Deadline.com.

The film centers on a blind sports writer, and is inspired by a true story printed in Sports Illustrated. Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel are writing the screenplay, and the film is being produced by Two Lefts Don't Make A Right Productions' Elliot Abbott and S2BN Entertainment's Michael Cohl.

Tucci directed the 2010 Broadway revival of Lend Me a Tenor, and starred on Broadway in Frankie & Johnnie in the Clair de Lune. He received a 2010 Oscar nomination for The Lovely Bones, and has appeared in numerous films including Julie and Julia, The Devil Wears Prada, and The Hunger Games.
