NBC has announced its slate of new Fall 2011 programming, which includes numerous theater veterans.

Tony Award winners Cherry Jones and BD Wong are featured in Awake, about a detective (played by Jason Isaacs), who is living a double life — in parallel universes. Amanda Peet and Jeffrey Tambor are part of the cast of the rom-com Bent.

Tony nominee Hank Azaria and Broadway veteran Kathryn Hahn will star in Free Agents, a romantic comedy set in a crooked workplace. Russell Hornsby, who played Lyons in the recent Broadway revival of Fences, is one of the featured actors in Grimm, a cop drama in which the fairy tale characters of the Brothers Grimm exist.

Tony Award winner Laura Benanti and Naturi Naughton will appear in The Playboy Club, a 1960s-set drama set in the world of Playboy clubs. Brian F. O’Byrne and Aidan Quinn will join star Maria Bello in the U.S. reimagining of the popular British cop drama, Prime Suspect.

Zoe Lister-Jones is part of the supporting cast of Whitney, starring British comedian Whitney Cummings. Christina Applegate will headline Up All Night, a comedy about new parents.

As previously reported, NBC will also be premiering Smash, focusing on the putting on of a Broadway musical about Mariyn Monroe, and starring Debra Messing, Megan Hilty, Christian Borle, Anjelica Huston, Brian d’Arcy James, and Katharine McPhee.

Additional new NBC shows include Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea; Best Friends Forever; and The Firm.
