Kathy Bates, Michael Imperioli, Allison Janney, Jimmy Smits, et al. to Star in New TV Series

A number of major stage veterans will be starring in new TV series chosen for the 2010-2011 season, according to published reports.

On NBC, Kathy Bates and Ben Chaplin will headline David Kelley’s new drama Harry’s Law; Jimmy Smits will play a former Supreme Court justice who returns to private legal practice in Outlaw; and Keith David and Jennifer Ferrin will be part of the ensemble cast of the crime drama The Cape. As previously reported, Becki Newton will star in the anthology series Love Bites.

Michael Imperioli will star in the ABC series Detroit 187, which is about a group of fictional documentarians following and filming Detroit homicide police; Drama Desk Award winner Allison Janney will star opposite Matthew Perry in the new ABC comedy Mr. Sunshine; and Dana Delany will star in the procedural Off the Map.

Mark Paul-Gosselaar, who starred last season in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of The Understudy, will team with Breckin Meyer for TNT’s new legal drama Franklin & Bash.

More new series will be announced by various networks over the coming days.
