East West Players’ Tim Dang Receives James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award

Tim Dang — the producing artistic director of the L.A.-based Asian American company East West Players — is a recipient of a James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award, to be presented at a ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento on June 9.

According to press notes, the awards celebrate “extraordinary leaders who are advancing innovative and effective solutions to significant state issues,” and come with a cash prize of $125,000 each. Additional recipients include Josefina Alvarado Mena, Kathryn Icenhower, Luis Santana, Richard Valle, and Jennifer Vanica.

Dang has produced, directed, written and performed in numerous EWP productions since 1980, and is being awarded for his work in helping transform the company “into a vibrant artistic center that promotes cross-cultural understanding in an increasingly diverse region.”
