Re-Animator The Musical, Small Engine Repair Among Winners of L.A. Weekly Theater Awards

L.A. Weekly presented its 33rd annual theater awards — honoring the best work on local small stages from 2011– on Tuesday, April 3 at the Avalon in Hollywood.

Winners in major categories included Rogue Machine’s Small Engine Repair, which won for Production of the Year; Antaeus Company’s Peace in Our Time, which won Revival Production of the Year; and Red Hen Productions and Schramm Group LLC’s Re-Animator The Musical, which won Musical of the Year.

John Fleck won the solo performance category for Mad Women, while Sam Anderson and Corryn Cummins received the award for two-person performance for Blackbird. Awards were also given to the ensembles of Small Engine Repair, Re-Animator The Musical, and Margo Veil.

Individual acting winners included Daniel Escobar (Room Service), Maile Flanagan (Day Drinkers), Kate Huffman (100 Saints You Should Know), Michael McGee (Way to Heaven), Jonica Patella (Turbo Tartuffe), Norbert Weisser (Way to Heaven), and Jacqueline Wright (House of Gold).
