Laguna Playhouse has announced five of the six productions that will comprise its 2011-2012 season, which will conclude with the world premiere of Rita Rudner and Martin Bergman’s Tickled Pink, to run April 24 – May 20. The show, directed by Bergman, centers on a woman who runs away from Florida to start a life in New York as a dancer, but instead finds herself in an unlikely career as a stand-up comic.

The theater’s season will also include David Grapes and Todd Olson’s I Left My Heart: A salute to the music of Tony Bennett (July 5 – August 21); Steve Murray’s one-man reinvention of a classic movie from Frank Capra, This Wonderful Life (November 25 – December 24); the Rubicon Theatre’s production of the concert Lonesome Traveler: A Journey Down the Rivers and Streams of American Folk (January 10 – February 5), conceived and directed by James O’Neil; and Maripat Donovan’s Sister’s Easter Catechism (March 13 – April 8), a new addition to the Late Night Catechism series, to be directed by Mark Silva.

A sixth production, to run September 27 – October 23, will be announced shortly.
