Kristy Edmunds Named Executive and Artistic Director of UCLA Live

Kristy Edmunds has been named the new executive and artistic director of UCLA Live, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. She will assume the position on May 1.

Edmunds has held the position of Head of Performing Arts for the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne since early 2008. Prior to this she served as artistic director of the Melbourne International Arts Festival for four years. Edmunds’ career also includes curating the Art on the Edge series for the Portland Art Museum and establishing the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art. In addition, she serves as consulting artistic director for a new performance program at New York City’s Park Avenue Armory, a position which she will retain during her first year with UCLA Live.

UCLA Live brings leading dance, classical music, jazz, world and pop music and touring theater companies to the campus. Edmunds’ first year of programming will be for the 2012-2013 season.
