Theater veterans Ben McKenzie and Eliza Dushku will be among the voice cast for the DC universe animated movie Batman: Year One, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is adapted from Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s story arc for DC Comics which retold the origin of Batman and some of his early adventures. The script is by Tab Murphy with direction by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu.

McKenzie, who voices Batman/Bruce Wayne, performed in the 2010 revival of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie at the Mark Taper Forum. He is best known for his roles in the television series The O.C. and Southland. Dushku, who will voice Catwoman/Selina Kyle, was featured in the Off-Broadway production of Dog Sees God, and is best known for her work on the TV series Dollhouse and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The voice cast will also include Bryan Cranston as Lieutenant James Gordon; Katee Sackhoff as Gordon’s love interest, Detective Sarah Essen; and Alex Rocco as crime lord Carmine Falcone.

The rated PG-13 film from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, is scheduled for a fall release on home video, but will receive its world premiere in July at Comic-Con.
