La Mirada Theatre Announces 2008-2009 Season

La Mirada Theatre for The Performing Arts & Mc Coy Rigby Entertainment have announced their 2008-2009 season of shows.

The season will open with a trip into the life of Florence Foster Jenkins, in Souvenir by Stephen Temperley, September 12-September 28. Told through the eyes of her longtime accompanist Cosme McMoon, Souvenir is a hilarious portrait of a passionate music lover who believed that, “what matters most is the music you hear in your head.” The season will continue with Happy Days: A New Musical by Garry Marshall and Paul Williams, October 31-November 16. This performance will mark the opening of the North American Tour of the production.

Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning work Lost in Yonkers, February 6-22, will bring the playwright’s experience of growing up in New York City to the La Mirada stage. Joe Sears and Jaston Williams will return to La Mirada in Tuna Does Vegas, April 17-May 3, as the Polyester-clad Bertha Bumiller and gun-crazy Arles Struvie decide to head to Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows.

The season will close with Ring of Fire, June 5-21. Created by Richard Maltby, Jr. and conceived by William Meade, the musical will bring the songs of Johnny Cash into a unique show about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, home and family.
