Carrie White is finally making her way to the City of Angels.

Carrie the Musical, based on the 1974 horror novel by Stephen King, will receive its Los Angeles premiere from the Transfer Theatre Group and Tony Award-winning producers Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman (Clybourne Park, Nice Work If You Can Get It), September 6-November 12 at a still-to-be-announced location. The production will be directed by Brady Schwind, with choreography by Imara Quionenz.

The show, which features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), tells the story of 17-year-old Carrie White, who is terrorized by both her high school classmates and her fanatically religious mother. After a prom-night-prank gone awry, Carrie uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to wreak havoc on those who have done her wrong.

The show was originally produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and transferred to Broadway in May 1988, where it ran for 5 regular performances and 16 previews. A revised version of the show was produced in 2012 by MCC Theater.
