REDCAT is set to present the Los Angeles Premiere of choreographer and multidisciplinary artist Dayna Hanson’s Gloria’s Cause, April 5-8.

Gloria’s Cause is an irreverent and provocative re-imagining of the American Revolution and U.S. politics. Mixing rock music and virtuosic dancing, Hanson exhumes the colonies’ complex players and offers warped replays of iconic moments.

The piece will be performed by Hanson as well as longtime collaborator Peggy Piacenza and bandmates Dave Proscia, Maggie Brown, and Paul Moore. The cast will also include Wade Madsen, Jim Kent, Pol Rosenthal, and Jessie Smith.

Hanson is a Guggenheim Fellow in Choreography and 2010 United Artists Oliver Fellow. From 1994 until 2006, she was co-artistic director of internationally touring dance theater company 33 Fainting Spells.
