David Arquette, Jean Smart to Co-Star on ABC’s The Smart One Pilot

Stage and screen stars David Arquette and Jean Smart will co-star in the ABC pilot The Smart One, according to TVLine.com.

The series will focus on Jude and Candy, siblings who are polar opposites, to be played by Portia de Rossi and Malin Akerman. Arquette will play Candy’s husband, while Smart will play the duo’s mom.

Arquette starred in the Geffen Playhouse’s production of The Female of the Species, and is well known for his work in the Scream series of film and his appearance on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

Smart appeared on Broadway in The Man Who Came to Dinner and in the Los Angeles production of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. She is well known for her work on the TV series Designing Women and 24.
