Beau Bridges, Margo Martindale Join Michael Sheen in Masters of Sex Pilot

Emmy winners and Broadway veterans Beau Bridges and Margo Martindale will join the previously reported Michael Sheen in Showtime’s drama pilot Masters of Sex, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Michelle Ashford and directed by John Madden. The series will focus on the life and work of sex researchers Masters (Sheen) and his partner Virginia Johnson (to be played by Lizzy Caplan).


Bridges — who will play Barton Scully, Masters’ boss — is currently starring on Broadway as J.B. Biggley in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, with other stage credits including Where’s Daddy?, Who’s Who in Hell, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, and Looking for Normal. He won an Emmy for HBO’s The Second Civil War, and his many films Include The Fabulous Baker Boys, The Other Side of the Mountain, Norma Rae, and The Descendants.

Martindale — who will portray Masters’ secretary, Miss Horchow — received a Tony Award nomination for playing Big Mama in the 2004 revival Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and was in the original Off-Broadway production of Steel Magnolias. She won an Emmy for her work in Justified, co-stars in the CBS series A Gifted Man, and has just been announced to co-star in the ABC comedy pilot, Counter Culture, along with the previously reported Doris Roberts.
