Morlan Higgins and Karen Kondazian will star as the title characters in Phoenix Rising Productions’ production of Franco D’Alessandro’s Tennessee & Anna, to run April 5 – May 29 at the Odyssey Theatre. Anthony Caldarella will direct the play.

D’Alessandro’s script charts the 25-year friendship between Tennessee Williams and the
Academy Award-winning Italian actress Anna Magnani. Set in Rome during the La Dolce
Vita era, it is a memory play told through the eyes of the playwright.

Higgins’ other credits include Train Driver, Forgiveness, King Lear, After the Fall, Victory, and Exits and Entrances, among others. Kondazian won an LADCC Award for her performance in Williams’ The Rose Tattoo and has also been appeared in Williams’ Orpheus Descending, Night of the Iguana, and The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore, among others.

The creative team will include Tom Buderwitz (scenic design), Steven Young (lighting design), Swinda Reichelt (costume design), Cricket Myers (sound design), and Fritz Davis (video design.
