Joan Benedict Steiger to Be Honored by March 24 Opening of the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival

Joan Benedict Steiger will be honored with the Eternity Award at the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival’s opening night gala to be held on Thursday, March 24 at the Electric Lodge. Steiger is receiving the prize in recognition of her exceptional career and life achievements.

On stage, Steiger has appeared in such shows as Promises, Promises, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Collected Stories, The Octette Bridge Club, The Traveling Lady, The World Is Made of Glass, The Mind With the Dirty Man, Richard III, Dr. Faustus, and The Dybbuk, as well as her one-woman show Leona, in which she played hotelier Leona Helmsley.

Her television and film career includes such credits as The Steve Allen Show, where she was an original cast member, The Prize Fighter, and The Flying Dutchman, in which she appeared opposite her late husband, Rod Steiger.

The awards ceremony will also include the presentation of the Maverick Award to Suzanna Guzman, the Rainbow Award to Velina Hasu Houston, and the Integrity Award to Charmaine Jefferson.
