David Cale’s Palomino to Replace Tynan in Kirk Douglas Theatre Lineup

Obie Award winner David Cale will bring his latest work, Palomino to the Kirk Douglas Theatre, May 7 – June 6. The production replaces the previously announced Tynan, which has been postponed to accommodate performer Malcolm McDowell’s schedule.

Cale serves as writer, director and performer of this solo piece, in which he plays seven characters in a story that follows a beautiful, literate, and mysterious Irish Central Park carriage driver, with literary aspirations.

Cale’s other solo works include A Likely Story, Deep in a Dream of You, Smooch Music, The Redthroats and the Obie Award-winning Lillian. His monologues have been featured on Public Radio’s This American Life and NPR’s The Next Big Thing. As an actor, his credits range from the Broadway revival of The Threepenny Opera to The New Group’s production of Mouth to Mouth Off-Broadway. His film credits include Two Lovers, Pollock and The Slaughter Rule.

The creative team includes Takeshi Kata (scenic design), Laura Bauer (costume design), Beverly Emmons (lighting design), Andre Pluess (sound design) and Jason H. Thompson (projection design).
