Full Cast Announced for L.A. Opera’s The Birds

Casting is complete for the Los Angeles Opera premiere of Walter Braunfels’ The Birds (Die Vögel), freely adapted from Aristophanes’ ancient Greek comedy, to play the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, April 11-26.

James Conlon will conduct, with direction by Darko Tresnjak and choreography by Peggy Hickey. The cast will include Désirée Rancatore (Nightingale), Stacey Tappan (Wren), Brandon Jovanovich (Good Hope), James Johnson (Loyal Friend), Martin Gantner (the Hoopoe), Brian Mulligan (Prometheus), Matthew Moore (Eagle/Zeus), Valerie Vinzant (First Thrush), and Daniel Armstrong (Raven).

The creative team will include David P. Gordon (set), Linda Cho (costumes), and David Weiner (lighting).
