Rubicon International Theatre Festival to Debut Summer 2009

The new Rubicon International Theatre Festival will be launched in the summer of 2009, with a preview season scheduled for July, 2008. The festival will be an offshoot of Rubicon Theatre, and will be a ten-day fusion of the finest international and American theatrical events to be held in unique settings ranging from tents, warehouses and rodeo arenas in Ventura, California.

In addition to the full-scale productions, there will be cabarets, outreach programs, seminars and workshops with noted theatre professionals, programs for children, a parade, a theatre fair, and more.

The preview event this July will include the American premiere of a Moliere Award-winning event from France, Imagine-Toi, performed by Julien Cottereau, formerly of Cirque du Soleil. Also planned are two other international productions.

The festival’s newly formed Artistic Advisory Council includes Susan Clark, Tony winner Joe Mantegna, and Julian Sands.
