Christopher Durang's Chekhovian send-up Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike has announced a one-week extension at Center Theatre Group's Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The production will now run through March 16.

Based on Nicholas Martin's original direction, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike opened at the Mark Taper Forum on February 9 under the direction of original Broadway cast member David Hyde Pierce. The production features Mark Blum, two-time Tony winner Christine Ebersole, Liesel Allen Yeager, David Hull, and Tony-nominated original Broadway cast members Shalita Grant and Kristine Nielsen.

A comic variation on Chekhovian themes, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike concerns Vanya (Blum) and his sister Sonia (Nielsen), who still live in their childhood home. When their glamorous movie-star sister Masha (Ebersole) returns home with her new beau — the hunky Spike (Hull) — their quotidian lives are thrown into disarray.
