Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group has announced the lineup for its 2014-15 Ahmanson Theatre season.

Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful will open the season, beginning performances on September 17 in advance of a September 26 opening, and will run through November 2. Cicely Tyson will star in the production, reprising her Tony Award-winning role as Carrie Watts, an elderly woman who, despite the wishes of her son and his domineering wife, wishes to return to her hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one last time before she dies. Michael Wilson, who directed Tyson in the Broadway production, will return to the play for its Los Angeles mounting.

Heartbeat of Home, a high-energy dance extravaganza created by the producers and director of Riverdance, will come to the Ahmanson Theater for the holiday season from December 9, 2014-January 18, 2015, with an official opening on December 10. The production features 29 dancers and 10 musicians in a celebration of the rhythms of Ireland, Cuba, Africa, Spain, and more.

Dame Edna and Barry Humphries: The Final Farewell Tour, directed by Simon Phillips, is next, with performances running from January 24, 2015-March 15, 2015, with an official opening set for January 28. The production will cap off Humphries' 50 years as his comic alter-ego Dame Edna Everage.

Two musicals will close out the Ahmanson season, beginning with a production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, book writer Douglas Carter Beane's new adaptation of the classic fairy tale, currently running at New York City's Broadway Theatre. Performances will begin March 17, 2015, in advance of a March 18, 2015 opening and will run through April 26, 2015. Matilda the Musical, another Broadway hit now running at the Shubert Theatre, will follow with a run from May 29, 2015-June 12, 2015. The production's official opening is set for June 7, 2015.
