Tony Award Nominee Dick Anthony Williams Has Died

Two-time Tony Award nominee Dick Anthony Williams died on Thursday in Los Angeles.


A co-founder of the New Federal Theatre, Williams earned Tony nominations for his roles in What the Wine-Sellers Buy and Black Picture Show, and also appeared on Broadway in Ain’t Supposed to Die a Natural Death and The Poison Tree.


His many film and television credits include The Mack, Five on the Black Hand Side, The Jerk, Mo’ Better Blues, Edward Scissorhands, and Homefront.


He is survived by his children, Mona, Jason, and Mikah.
