Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo Set for John Carney’s Can A Song Save Your Life? Film

Mark Ruffalo will join the previously announced Scarlett Johansson in Can A Song Save Your Life?, according to a report in Variety. John Carney is writing and directing the picture.

The film centers on a washed-up recording executive who forms a passionate bond with a young singer-songwriter (to be played by Johansson).

Johansson won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in A View From the Bridge. Among her many film credits are Iron Man 2, Match Point, Lost in Translation, Girl With a Pearl Earring and the forthcoming The Avengers.

Ruffalo received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in Awake and Sing! Among his other stage appearances are The Moment When and This Is Our Youth Off-Broadway. In addition, he received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Kids Are All Right and has been seen in other movies such as You Can Count on Me, 13 Going on 30, Sympathy for Delicious, The Brothers Bloom and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, as well as the forthcoming The Avengers. He will also star as Ned Weeks in the upcoming film adaptation of The Normal Heart.
