Tyler Perry to Star in I, Albert Cross Movie

Tyler Perry will star as the title character in I, Alex Cross, according to a report in Variety. Rob Cohen will direct the project.

The movie will be an origin tale of the detective/psychologist created by James Patterson and portrayed by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider.

Perry recently toured the country in his play, Madea’s Big Happy Family, and he has made two films featuring the Madea character, which he originally created on stage: Madea’s Family Reunion and Madea Goes To Jail. His film version of the Broadway play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf… has recently been released on DVD.
