Harry Connick Jr., Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett et al. Set for When Angels Sing Film

Two-time Tony nominee Harry Connick Jr. will star in the upcoming holiday film, When Angels Sing, according to Variety. Tim McCanlies will direct.

Adapted by Lou Berney from the Christmas novel of the same name by Turk Pipkin, the film is about a father (Connick), whose holiday spirit was crushed by an accident when he was a child.

The cast will also include Connie Britton, Chandler Canterbury, Fionnula Flanagan, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, and Dana Wheeler-Nicholson. The film will also feature appearances by musicians Bob Schneider, Charlie Sexton, Sarah Hickman and Ray Benson.

Connick received Tony nominations for his performance in The Pajama Game and for the score of Thou Shalt Not. He has appeared in such films as Bug, Memphis Belle, and Little Man Tate. He co-starred in the NBC series Will & Grace, the television version of South Pacific and won an Emmy Award for his special Harry Connick, Jr.: Only You in Concert. As previously reported, Columbia Records will release Harry Connick, Jr. In Concert on Broadway, recorded during Connick’s 2010 run at the Neil Simon Theatre, on DVD, Blu-Ray and CD on March 1.
