Patti Austin to Sing Gershwin Concert as Part of Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Songbook Series

Grammy Award winner Patti Austin will join together with Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band for Patti Austin: Avant Gershwin, part of the LA Philharmonic’s 2008/09 Songbook series, to be presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 13 at 8 pm.

The concert will include selections from Austin’s 2007 release Avant-Gershwin, celebrating the essential Gershwin-jazz connection with a fresh twist, including new takes on “Porgy & Bess,” “Swanee,” and “Lady Be Good.”

The LA Philharmonic’s Songbook series will conclude on May 2 with Chita Rivera: The Secret of Life.
