Padua Playwrights Inaugurates the Master Tribute Series with New Works by Murray Mednick

As a tribute to Los Angeles playwright Murray Mednick, Padua Playhouse has announced New Works by Murray Mednick, March 26-April 19, which will feature world premiere productions of three of his works in repertory at Art Share L.A.

Clown Show for Bruno, to be directed by Guy Zimmerman, is Mednick’s homage to the Polish writer and artist Bruno Schultz, which will feature Bill Celentano, Kali Quinn, Daniel A. Stein, and Dana Wieluns.

The Destruction of the Fourth World, to be directed by Kristi Schultz and Brian Frette, follows Coyote, the ancient Native American trickster, as he makes ready for the end of the world with his only accomplice — a 13-year-old boy from a dysfunctional Jewish family. The cast will feature Kim Fitzgerald, Laura James, Kelly Van Kirk, Mike Lion, Scott Victor Nelson, Michael Shamus Wiles, and Yvette Wulff.

Rounding out the series is a new film based on Mednick’s play Girl on a Bed, adapted for the screen and directed by Zimmerman. The design team for New Works by Murray Mednick will include Matt Aston (set design) and Dan Reed (lighting design).
