Woody Allen Among Directors Guild of America Nominees

Oscar winner Woody Allen is among the nominees for the Directors Guild of America’s feature film award for Midnight in Paris, according to Variety. The awards will be presented at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles on January 28. As previously reported, Broadway veteran and television star Kelsey Grammer will host the ceremony.

Also nominated are David Fincher (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Michel Hazanavicius The Artist), Alexander Payne (The Descendants), and Martin Scorsese (Hugo).

Allen’s work for the stage includes the current Broadway production of Relatively Speaking to which he contributed the one-act, Honeymoon Hotel. His other plays include From A to Z, Don’t Drink the Water, Play It Again, Sam, The Floating Lightbulb, Writer’s Block, and A Second Hand Memoir.

He won Academy Awards for both writing and directing Annie Hall, and for writing Hannah and Her Sisters. He also received Oscar nominations for his screenplays for Match Point, Deconstructing Harry, Mighty Aphrodite, Husbands and Wives, Alice, Radio Days, The Purple Rose of Cairo, and Manhattan. In addition, he received dual nominations as writer and director for Bullets Over Broadway, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Broadway Danny Rose, and Interiors.
