NEWS FLASH: Dolly Parton to Bring Life Story to Broadway

Country music legend Dolly Parton is planning on bringing her life story to the Great White Way, the star told TheaterMania while promoting her upcoming movie, Joyful Noise.
“I’m writing my life story as a musical for Broadway. I probably won’t be in it but I’ll have a way to introduce it somehow. I’ll be involved — maybe I’ll play the older me or something,” she says.
Parton commented that her experience as the composer-lyricist of the musical 9 to 5, adapted from the movie she starred in, hasn’t turned her off from Broadway. “The show didn’t make it, but it didn’t sour me,” she notes. “I learned a lot of stuff from it!”
Joyful Noise, which opens on January 13, stars Parton and Queen Latifah as rivals who come together to make their church choir better. The cast also features Broadway star Jeremy Jordan. For TheaterMania’s interview with Queen Latifah, come back later this week.
