Bathsheba Doran, John Logan, Aaron Sorkin, et al. Receive Writers Guild Award Nominations

Writers Guild Award nominations have been announced.

Among the nominees is Woody Allen, who has been nominated in the Original Screenplay category for Midnight in Paris. Also nominated are Will Reiser (50/50), Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Tom McCarthy (Win Win), and Diablo Cody (Young Adult).

The nominees in the Adapted Screenplay category include John Logan for Hugo and Stevgen Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin for Moneyball, as well as Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Descendants), Steve Zaillian (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), and Tate Taylor (The Help).

In television categories, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, which has among its writers Bathsheba Doran, Gina Gionfriddo, Howard Korder, and Itamar Moses, has been nominated in the Drama Series category. In addition, Doran and Moses have both been individually nominated for specific episodes. Also nominated in the Drama Series category are Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife, and Homeland.

Nominations for Comedy Series have gone to 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, Modern Family, and Parks and Recreation.

The nominees in the Comedy/Variety – Music, Awards, Tributes – Specials category are ABC’s After the Academy Awards and CBS’ The Kennedy Center Honors. And in the Long Form – Originals category, Five, which includes a script by Deirdre O’Connor, has been nominated.
